The 15th round in the 2022

LIVEBLOG | First free practice for the 2022 Dutch Grand Prix
For the first time since 1985, F1 returned to
Zandvoort in 2021 for a
Dutch Grand Prix. The return was an immediate success, as the Orange Army that had been following Verstappen around the world also turned out in huge numbers to throw a big party at
Circuit Zandvoort. With full attendance in 2022 (in 2021 only two-thirds of the visitors were allowed due to the coronavirus rules) the party should be even bigger for the home fans.
Party in Zandvoort
The party in 2021 was, of course, so big because of
Max Verstappen's victory. This time around, Verstappen and
Red Bull Racing arrive at the circuit as comfortable championship leaders. The Dutchman stunned the competition just under a week ago at the Belgian GP by driving from P14 to victory. With nine wins this season, Verstappen is the big favourite for his home race. Though the circuit characteristics fall more towards
Ferrari.
The first free practice session for the
Dutch Grand Prix kicks off at 12:30pm Dutch time. This year
GPblog is present in the paddock at
Zandvoort, so here you will find the very latest news.
