Rainy conditions have made for an interesting qualifying session, now the question is whether we will also get a fun Grand Prix of Canada 2023? With a number of drivers not in place where they belong, we can at least expect plenty of overtaking action. Don't miss anything from the race at
Circuit Gilles Villeneuve with this liveblog from GPblog.
Verstappen hunting down Senna's record
For the fifth time this
F1 season,
Max Verstappen will start from pole position on Sunday. The
Red Bull Racing Dutchman was the best on track in all conditions during qualifying, resulting in the 25th pole of his F1 career. In addition, on Sunday, he can match
Ayrton Senna when it comes to victories in
Formula 1.
Nico Hulkenberg was still next to Verstappen in the photo after qualifying, but like
Carlos Sainz,
Yuki Tsunoda and
Lance Stroll, the German received a grid penalty. He will now start from fifth place.
Fernando Alonso takes the spot next to Verstappen, with Mercedes'
Lewis Hamilton and
George Russell behind him.
Nyck de Vries will hope to finally score his first points for AlphaTauri from P17.
