LIVEBLOG | The first free practice session for the 2022 Brazilian Grand Prix

After a week off, Formula 1 teams and drivers are returning to the paddock. They have arrived in Brazil for the first race in this season's final Double Header. In a week's time, the season will conclude with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Although the world titles have already been won by Red Bull Racing and Max Verstappen, there is still plenty to fight for.

Sprint race in Brazil

These include Mercedes and Ferrari fighting for the second spot in the constructors' championship, Alpine and McLaren for P4, Aston Martin and Alfa Romeo for P6 and finally AlphaTauri trying to take P8 from Haas. Every place equals more money, so it is very important for the teams to collect as many points as possible. This weekend is crucial in that respect, as there are extra points to be earned with the sprint race.

The first free practice is also crucial this weekend in Brazil, as this is another race weekend with a Sprint on Saturday. For that sprint race, qualifying has to be done first and that already happens on Friday after FP1. It is therefore important for teams and drivers to find the right setup in just one session. You can follow that important session with the liveblog below. This liveblog will be completed in English.
