The first points of the weekend are about to be claimed. It is time for the Sprint race at the Circuit of the Americas. Max Verstappen will try to drive from pole position to his third sprint victory of 2023 in the first race of this weekend at the United States Grand Prix in Austin.

The Sprint race, which goes over 19 laps, is the fifth this season. Verstappen was the strongest in Austria and Belgium, Perez won in Azerbaijan, whilst, a fortnight ago, Oscar Piastri crossed the line first at the Losail International Circuit.

Verstappen faces competitors from three different other teams with Charles Leclerc, Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris behind him. Leclerc will be aiming to take over the lead at the start, so it will be up to Verstappen to get away well when the lights go out.

Verstappen's teammate Sergio Perez has to come from a disappointing P7. For George Russell, the catch-up race is even trickier: the Mercedes driver has to come from P11 after a grid penalty. Check the full starting grid here.
