Hamilton gets support: 'I really do hope he'll be racing'

Formula One begins a new season in just under two months, but still, Lewis Hamilton has not given any clarity on his future in the sport. Jenson Button tells ITV's Good Morning Britain on Wednesday morning he has a sense of what decision the seven-time world champion will make.
Hamilton signed on with Mercedes for two more years in 2021, but the season finale in Abu Dhabi has reportedly made him hesitate. The Briton believes he has not been treated fairly and would consider leaving Formula 1 for good, Mercedes announced. Hamilton himself did not respond at all after mid-December.
Although the rumors surrounding his future remain alive, Button thinks he knows his compatriot well. "I really do hope he'll be racing," the former Formula One driver told the program. "He wants to win that eighth title to be the most decorated Formula 1 driver in F1 history. And he will do that. I really do think so."
Hamilton goes for Formula One record
With his seven world titles, Hamilton is still tied with Michael Schumacher who had the same number to his name. Should Hamilton still manage to beat his competitors in the coming years, the British driver will be on top alone.
