Helmut Marko says Mercedes will travel to Bahrain with a huge upgrade package. The sporting director of Red Bull Racing reveals that Red Bull will not travel to Bahrain with such a huge upgrade package.
Gigantic package for Mercedes
Marko says he has already heard the extent of the Mercedes upgrades. It would be a huge package according to the Austrian. In addition, he expects that Mercedes will not be the only team to come with a major upgrade compared to Barcelona. "Everyone will fly to Bahrain with new parts. In the first few races everyone will be full of energy," he is quoted by Auto, Motor und Sport.
According to Marko, Mercedes is coming up with so many upgrades that they will come up with a semi-new car in Bahrain. The 78-year-old advisor admits that Red Bull cannot replicate the size of that package. "We would be happy if we can get 70% of what Mercedes brings."
Ferrari strikes out on a different path
In addition to Red Bull and Mercedes, McLaren also appears to be arriving in Bahrain with a large package of upgrades. Ferrari, on the other hand, seems to be going in a different direction. Mattia Binotto let it be known earlier that the Italian team is mainly focusing on improving the current package.
