Guanyu Zhou could not give his successful debut in Bahrain a good follow-up in Saudi Arabia. The Chinese finished eleventh in the race where only thirteen cars saw the finish line.

Car fast enough for the points

Zhou had an eventful race. Early in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, the Chinese driver received a five-second penalty for overtaking Alexander Albon off the track. Due to a blunder by his team, Alfa Romeo, the five-second penalty became a drive through penalty.

"From my race, it was messy," Zhou let's know at F1.com. "I think the car was fast enough to fight for the points." He let it be known that a poor start and the drive through penalty made a points finish impossible. The difficult start caused Zhou to drop back from his starting position to last place.

Dramatic Sunday for Alfa Romeo

Alfa Romeo's weekend ended scoreless, as Valtteri Bottas also failed to cross the finish line. The Finn was on a points course, but had to park his C42 in the garage early. The engine temperature kept rising and the team did not want to lose an engine this early in the season.
