'Aston Martin interested in bringing in Alonso'
- GPblog.com
Sebastian Vettel may be entering his final season at Aston Martin, reports F1-Insider.com. Indeed, according to the medium, team owner Lawrence Stroll would be interested in Fernando Alonso whom he sees as an ideal replacement for Vettel.
Where the Spaniard is almost 41 years old, the driver is still not thinking about stopping. Since his return to Formula 1 with Alpine, he has been performing satisfactorily and showing that he still has an excellent level of performance.
With his performances, he would have attracted interest from Stroll. He would have enjoyed Alonso quite a bit in 2021 and is working out behind the scenes whether it is possible to have the Madrile born in the team next season. He would then become a teammate of Lance Stroll.
Vettel seems open to leaving
It would mean that Aston Martin would have to say goodbye to Vettel. The German joined the team last season, but was not able to leave an indelible impression. Last week he himself showed that he would not be unwilling to make the switch. He says he would like to return to Red Bull Racing, with which he won four world titles in a row between 2010 and 2013.
