Wolff satisfied: "I couldn’t wish for a better driver pair".

Toto Wolff has never doubted the talent of George Russell. The young Briton made the move from Williams to Mercedes in 2022 and, according to the German brand's team boss, Russell always works as hard as ever.
Difficult start for Mercedes
Mercedes is having a difficult season so far. After five races, only two podiums have been scored and the team has not yet come close to a victory. Russell is currently third in the championship and therefore looks stronger than teammate Lewis Hamilton, although it must be admitted that Russell had a bit more luck during the first five races.
Wolff never doubted Russell
Wolff in a conversation with MotorsportWeek.com thought back to the time when Russell was still driving Formula 3 (then GP3) and Formula 2. He managed to win both championships in his first season. This earned him his chance in Formula 1 at Williams. According to Wolff, this was an ideal learning experience for Russell.
Wolff praises Russell: "He is very rational. Whether he's fastest, driving P2 or whether he's 11th. It's just about applying the science and trying to make the car faster." In addition, Wolff says Russell and Hamilton get along well. "I couldn't wish for a better driver pair."
