Perez would put Verstappen ahead again: 'Trust Red Bull 100 percent'

Sergio Perez says from now on he will fully trust his team. The Mexican will therefore no longer hesitate if a team order sounds over his ears. Yet the Red Bull driver is also thinking of his own interests.
Team orders from Red Bull Racing
Perez has already had two moments in 2022 where he had to let Max Verstappen pass. In Spain, he was clearly ordered to leave his teammate in front and in Azerbaijan, he was told not to fight with Max. Verstappen subsequently won both races, but Perez would not act differently in the future.
''If they tell me now, I will do what I am asked. I don't see why that wouldn't be logical,'' Perez said prior to the Canadian Grand Prix to the Canadian La Presse. The Mexican states that he trusts his team 100 percent and assumes that action is taken in the best interest of the team.
Verstappen as a teammate
It also helps that Verstappen and Perez get along well. The 32-year-old driver speaks of a good relationship with his teammate and there would be much respect between them. ''He is obviously a very talented driver. He is capable of delivering great races and performances. It's quite a challenge for me to have him as a teammate.''
Despite the great opposition within his team, Perez is not shying away from the challenge. The Mexican wants to become a world champion and sees that this is possible with the Austrian formation. In the championship Perez is now second, 21 points behind his teammate. With that, with fourteen races to go, anything is still possible.
