In an official statement, the Formula One has confirmed that it's currently working on getting a Miami Grand Prix on the calendar for 2019, as the local Commision will be taking a vote soon of whether or not it will happen.
The plot thickens. We always knew that Liberty Media was interested in getting a second Grand Prix in the USA, but this means that there are actual plans for next season.
“Earlier today the City of Miami Commission took an important step by adding an item to their upcoming agenda, that if approved, will make way to bring Formula 1 to downtown Miami next season," Sean Bratches, director of the F1's commercial operations stated on the Formula One's website.
It's pretty notable that below Bratches' statement, there's a link to a website, f1miamigp.com. It lets you sign up for when the tickets become available, should the Grand Prix be held.
"From football and soccer to tennis and motorsports, Miami deserves only the best in music, food, art, fashion, and sports and entertainment, and that is exactly what we plan on delivering with a Formula 1 race,” US entrepreneur Stephen Ross added.
The inaugural race should take place somewhere in October 2019, if the plan gets approved. There will already be a fan festival in Miami this year ahead of the US Grand Prix in Texas.
