Official: Sainz starts last in France after extra grid penalties
- GPblog.com
It was already a long time coming, but now it is definite. Carlos Sainz will have to start the French Grand Prix from the back of the grid. The Spaniard has changed even more engine parts which means he will have to fight his way to the podium from P20 on Sunday.
The Madrid native had his third Control Electronics fitted to his F1-75 on Friday. That earned him a ten-place grid penalty, but Ferrari has now decided to replace even more components.
According to reports, Ferrari has opted to update the MGU-H, MGU-K and turbo. This means that Sainz will have to fight his way into the points on Sunday from the back of the grid.

Magnussen also chooses to replace parts
Sainz is not the only driver who will face a heavy grid penalty. Haas decided to replace several engine parts for Kevin Magnussen as well, which means he will have to start close to Sainz.
