Porsche has officially signed Antonio Felix da Costa for the 2022-2023 Formula E season. With this, the German marque now has a major champion in its midst and hopes to start the way up.
Porsche debuted in the 2019-2020 season in Formula E as a new team and appointed two Germans with Pascal Wehrlein and Andre Lotterer. Whereas Mercedes managed to win two world titles in three years, Porsche was still a little behind with only its first victory in the past season. Wehrlein won in Mexico City.
Porsche gets a champion
In 2022-2023 there are new opportunities for Porsche, because then the new Gen3 cars will be introduced. With the departure of Mercedes, one major competitor has gone, but Porsche is looking out for itself. It has also seen that its line-up needs improvement and so Lotterer has been replaced by Felix da Costa for 2022-2023.
The Portuguese won his first Formula E title in 2020 and is considered one of the favourites every year. He comes over from DS-Techeetah. ''It’s like a dream come true. I’m really looking forward to cracking on and winning races for this team,'' the Portuguese said in the press release.
