Ferrari sets ultimate deadline to win world title
- GPblog.com
Ferrari hoped Max Verstappen would be able to compete for the world title this season, but nothing was further from the truth. Even before the summer break, the Dutchman put things in order. He now has over a hundred points more than Charles Leclerc, putting Verstappen well on his way to winning the World Championship. For John Elkann, however, this is not yet cause for panic.
The Italian team is coming out of a difficult period. In 2020, Ferrari experienced a low point by finishing in the middle of the championship. Whereas last season it continued to climb up the ladder, this year they are once again able to compete with the top teams.
Ferrari retains confidence in Binotto
Ferrari's car appears to be ready to compete for the world title, but the team has missed out on points this season due to other issues. Elkann remains confident in team principal Mattia Binotto and expects Ferrari to continue to grow.
"We wanted to be competitive first and foremost," the Ferrari CEO stated in conversation with La Gazzetta dello Sport. "If you are not competitive you have no margin, while you can work on reliability. That is why I am confident that Ferrari will win another constructors' championship and a world championship between now and 2026."
