Sebastian Vettel is not mournful that Max Verstappen has broken the record he shared with Michael Schumacher until recently. In fact, he hopes Verstappen manages to win all the remaining races of the Formula One season.
Vettel not sad about losing record to Verstappen
Vettel is happy for his old team, as he still knows many people at Red Bull Racing. He therefore wholeheartedly wishes Verstappen the record. "I think he's had a hell of a season, so hopefully he gets 16 at the end of the year," he is quoted as saying by Autosport.com.
The four-time world champion stresses that such a successful season is not as easy as it might look. Moreover, Red Bull certainly did not start the season with the dominant bolide it has now. The weight played an important role in that, according to Vettel, who praised the team for managing to win races despite the extra weight.
The Aston Martin driver saw Red Bull take a lot of momentum from last year and then build an "incredible" car in 2022. According to the German, the weight disadvantage is now out. "So the car is there, but Max is doing an amazing job as well," Vettel concluded.
