There will be an eight-part documentary series on Bernie Ecclestone and the developments Formula 1 has gone through over the years. Ecclestone lent his cooperation to the series, which will premiere in December.
New F1 documentary series
The series, called Lucky!, follows the development of F1 through the eyes of Bernie Ecclestone, the man who for more than 40 years was at the helm of the commercial side of the sport and made it a huge success. Ecclestone first got involved in Formula 1 back in the 1950s.
The new series is directed by Manish Pandey, who produced the gripping 2010 documentary called Senna. Ecclestone said in conversation with Deadline that he would not have worked with anyone other than Pandey, while Pandey stressed that it is "not a love letter" to the media mogul.
Ecclestone also voiced his criticism of a certain US documentary about Formula One and the "American view" it has of the sport. Lucky! should give a more realistic view of the king class of motorsport and the man who made the sport great. The new series will be available on Discovery Channel from December 27th.
