South African team owner Wayne Taylor has announced that a Formula 1 driver will join his own one-off Wayne Taylor Racing for the 24 Hours of Daytona, the Rolex 24. However, the former driver has not said who would it be, speaking to Sportscar365.com.

Taylor would not say which driver is involved, although he confirmed that it is not Fernando Alonso getting behind the wheel of the Acura this time. Brendon Hartley is also a familiar face to Daytona followers, but he is not currently driving Formula 1. According to Taylor, it will be a current Formula One driver. The 24 Hours of Daytona, also called the 24 Rolex, is the season-opening event of the ISMA season, a US sports car racing class.

Magnussen

Of the drivers on the current F1 grid, Kevin Magnussen is an avid endurance racer. The Dane regularly drives endurance races and has even competed in IMSA for a season.
