Lance Stroll has given a telling interview at Viaplay following his mediocre qualifying for the Qatar Grand Prix, where he finished more than a second behind his experienced teammate Fernando Alonso in Q1. The Aston Martin driver's confidence is - and we are putting it mildly - seems to be fragile at the moment.

Frustrations ran high immediately after Q1. Upon exiting, Stroll quickly disappeared to the back of the pit box, where he appeared to be pushing his own physiotherapist.

Even during qualifying, the 24-year-old driver responded in the square. He did so briefly.

Brief interview with Stroll after qualifying

Interviewer: "Well Lance, we saw frustration from you on the TV screens. This obviously means so much to you, what are your emotions right now?"
Stroll: "Sh*t"
Interviewer: "Sorry for the language. What is not clicking for you behind the wheel at the moment?"
Stroll: "I don't know"
Interviewer: "How does this change your mindset for the weekend? Is it now a test session? Are you gonna go for it in the sprint?"
Stroll: "Just keep driving"

Stroll was more than a second slower than teammate Fernando Alonso in Q1, but what that was due to, so he does not know himself. We can at least say that Stroll has had better phases in his career. He has 47 World Championship points, Alonso stands at 174.
