The FIA has reminded Formula 1 drivers of the track limits at turn 17 of the Las Vegas Street Circuit. Exceeding the track limits means the lap in question will be deleted, race director Niels Wittich informed.
FIA warns F1 drivers of track limits
"In accordance with the provisions of Article 33.3, the white lines define the track edges. During Qualifying and the Race, each time a driver fails to stay within the track limits, this will result in that lap time being invalidated by the Stewards. Additionally, each time a driver fails to respect track limits at the apex of turn 17, will result in that lap time and the immediately following lap time being invalidated by the Stewards," reads the FIA statement.
The governing body also clarified the F1 weekend's schedule, as qualifying starts at midnight on Saturday night and that could be considered a session on Sunday. "In view of the unique schedule for this competition, for the purpose of reference to “days” in the Formula 1 Sporting Regulations, Qualifying and the Race will be considered to occur on different days as they would during a normal Formula 1 competition weekend," the FIA said.
