'Permane ready for return to F1, linked to renamed AlphaTauri'
Alan Permane was one of the key staff members Alpine pushed out in 2023 but is now likely to face a new challenge in Formula 1. The 56-year-old engineer could join a racing team in motorsport's premier class. According to Motorsport.com, the Brit is linked to AlphaTauri.
Permane to AlphaTauri?
Permane was reportedly already being readied for a role with Red Bull Racing's subsidiary team. Last summer, Permane left in the wake of a reorganisation of the French team. This also meant the departure of team boss Otmar Szafnauer. Permane's experience would make him a target in the Formula 1 market. After all, he has experience with drivers like Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher.
AlphaTauri is set to change their name ahead of the 2024 season. Red Bull's sister team will get a real 'rebranding'. Among other things, the company name, identity and logo are going to change. The first Grand Prix will be held on 2 March. That is when Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda will appear at the start on behalf of the team.
