Ricciardo answers his critics after fourth place in Miami
Daniel Ricciardo has scored his first points of the season. A strong fourth place for the Australian. He says this sends a good message to all critics and rewards his team's hard work.
Ricciardo started the sprint race in Miami from fourth place, but no one expected the Visa Cash App RB driver to actually hold on. Ricciardo even briefly passed Sergio Perez, but the Mexican regained this position. With Carlos Sainz within DRS distance, it only seemed like a matter of time before Ricciardo would lose that spot, but Ricciardo held on.
Ricciardo answers his critics
"Felt awesome. Fighting towards the front just feels so much nicer. You see a Ferrari in your mirrors, and it's like ‘alright challenge accepted let's do what we can’. To be honest every lap that I was able to hold Carlos off I was like alright. I kind of gave myself a little pat on the back every lap that passed and then all of a sudden we're closing in on the finish and I was like ‘alright maybe we can actually really do this’," Ricciardo told F1TV afterwards.
"It was a sprint race in all forms of the word. There was yeah nothing left I could give, no tyre saving nothing, just going for it and I knew that's what it was going to take to try and obviously hold on to that. It feels good. The team deserve it. I can't swear, but we've gone through a bit of stuff [shit] to get here so it's also nice to remind some people."
