Lewis Hamilton himself has been without a win since December 2021. He did, however, see compatriot Lando Norris take his first victory in Miami. The 24-year-old McLaren driver celebrated that milestone in a big way by going out in Miami along with Max Verstappen. Hamilton also saw the footage.

"Lando and Max went pretty hard," laughed Hamilton in front of GPblog and others. Does he himself remember what party he had after his first win in the top class of motorsport? "I don't even remember if I went to a party. I just know I was there with my dad, and I think we went to dinner or something. But I think just the best part was just being on the podium and looking down and seeing my dad."

"That's the thing I particularly remember, and just where we've had that belief our whole lives, and so many challenges and so much adversity, and then finally getting there. It was a real shock to the system and very, very overwhelming, and just finding all that belief you've had in yourself all those years."

Winning with Mercedes

George Russell and Norris have now both won races since Hamilton last managed to do so. "It was really great to see Lando get that win, and we're sure there's many to come," Hamilton said.
