Current F1 driver receives brutal advice: 'Look outside of Formula 1'

Logan Sargeant has struggled throughout his Williams tenure. The young American graduated to F1 from Formula 2 in 2023. Since then, Sargeant has scored just one point throughout his whole career. His teammate, former Red Bull Junior Alex Albon, has excelled at Williams. The Thai driver single-handedly helped them to seventh in the constructors title in 2023, scoring 27 points to Sargeant's one. This season, Sargeant is yet to score a point. Former McLaren and Williams driver Juan Pablo Montoya believes that Sargeant is already aware he's lost his seat due to his poor performance. 

Sargeant 'will no longer fight' for his seat, says Montoya

"He already knows, although they haven't officially told him yet that he will no longer stay with the team. Logan will relax a lot more, he will no longer fight for that seat." Montoya, who also won the illustrious Indy 500 twice, continued. "If I were him, I would first talk to everyone to see whether there is interest from another team, but I would also start looking at IndyCar, WEC and other options for next year," explained Montoya. 

Although Sargeant has had a tough time in F1, the Florida native enjoyed a decorated junior career. Sargeant finished fourth in F2 in 2022 and won two races. "He's had a tough time and it's difficult. If you look at his performance in F3 and F2, he was very good. It's sad because if you ask Albon, he will say Sargeant is very fast, he does very well, but he makes a lot of stupid mistakes," concluded the Colombian. Logan Sargeant replaced Nicholas Latifi at Williams. Like Sargeant, Latifi had a great junior career but was mediocre at best in F1. As team boss James Vowles searches for Albon's partner, Sargeant may be searching for other options in different disciplines for 2025.
