It's the last race of the first tripe-header of the 2024
Formula 1 season, and it is qualifying day at the
British Grand Prix. Yesterday's practice sessions were topped by
Lando Norris, setting the fastest times in both FP1 and FP2 to highlight the speed of the
McLaren around
Silverstone. He will look to make it two pole positions in three
F1 races and rebuild from his collision with
Max Verstappen and subsequent DNF last week. Verstappen could only manage P7 in FP2 as Red Bull struggled in Friday's running. Can they challenge
McLaren and Norris? Follow live updates from qualifying here.
McLaren the team to beat but Mercedes improve in the rain
Free practice one and two were both topped by the McLaren of Norris who look to be the team to beat at the British Grand Prix. After the disappointing DNF at the
Austrian Grand Prix, the 24-year-old will be hoping that he can add to his
Spanish Grand Prix pole position by taking P1 in front of his home fans.
Oscar Piastri was able to take a P3 in FP1 and backed that up with a P2 in the second practice session, and he hopes to add to his P2 in Austria last week.
In the rain in FP3, the British fans were elated to see a British 1-2-3 as the chequered flag fell.
George Russell was able to build on his victory in Austria with P1 in the final free practice session, finishing just +0.035 seconds ahead of his teammate
Lewis Hamilton, with Norris taking P3. Will the Brits be able to continue to delight the home crowd at
Silverstone?
