Kevin Magnussen is leaving Haas. The seven-year partnership is coming to an end and the Dane can look for a new employer. It remains to be seen whether or not Magnussen's next drive will be in Formula 1 or not.

Kevin Magnussen drove his first season at Haas in 2017. Magnussen entered F1 with McLaren but was pushed aside there after just one year for Fernando Alonso. Magnussen did not quite come into his own at Renault, either. Guenther Steiner's Haas team proved to be the ideal place for Magnussen to shine.

In the first four seasons for the team, Magnussen was part of a strong duo with Romain Grosjean. In 2018, Magnussen achieved his best result in F1, when he finished ninth in the driver's world championship. That year, Haas also scored their highest ranking with fifth place in the constructors championship.

Magnussen and Haas are a good match

After a year of racing in the United States in series like IMSA and IndyCar, Magnussen received another call from Steiner in early 2022. The latter had just axed Nikita Mazepin from his team and was looking to bring the experienced driver back. Magnussen was keen and even achieved his first pole position in Formula 1 in 2022, and the first pole position ever for Haas.

Since Nico Hulkenberg's arrival, Magnussen has struggled with his form more and more. The German scored more points and was especially much faster in qualifying. Hulkenberg will leave at the end of 2024 for Sauber, which will be renamed Audi in 2026, but Haas is not holding on to Magnussen either.

The team has revealed that Magnussen will leave Haas at the end of 2024. Haas is expected to announce Esteban Ocon in addition to the already-appointed Oliver Bearman. However, that announcement is still some time away. For Magnussen, his F1 career appears to be coming to an end yet again.
