Red Bull advisor Dr Helmut Marko will soon discuss with team principal Christian Horner whether Sergio Perez should be allowed to stay at Red Bull Racing. The Austrian revealed this to OE24. Perez has been struggling these recent months and cannot keep up with Max Verstappen.

Perez drove a strong race in Hungary by driving from P16 to P7, but crashed out in Sector 2 during qualifying leading to another Q1 exit. On the other hand, McLaren picked up a 1-2 finish in Budapest and as a result have been well caught up with Red Bull in the constructors' championship.

Marko addresses bad race Verstappen and speculation surrounding Perez

For Red Bull, it was a weekend to quickly forget at the Hungaroring. Due to a wrong strategy and a collision with Lewis Hamilton, Verstappen did not progress beyond fifth place and expressed much frustration on the radio. "He expected more from the upgrade. We are still leading in both championships. It is not that all is lost," Marko informed.

With that, Marko confirmed that Perez will be discussed internally.  'On Monday after Spa I will fly to the UK and discuss the procedure with Christian Horner," Marko added.
