George Russell has not lost his fifth place on the grid for the
Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The Mercedes driver did not receive a grid penalty but a reprimand for not braking sufficiently in a yellow flag situation.
The drivers behind Russell, including Championship leader
Max Verstappen and his teammate
Lewis Hamilton, would've benefitted from a penalty for Russell because they would've moved up a place on the grid. Instead, Russell will keep his fifth place and try to attack the two
Ferrari cars,
Oscar Piastri and
Sergio Perez on the opening lap of the race.
