Provisional starting grid in Singapore: Verstappen and Norris set for duel
Lando Norris and Max Verstappen are set to go head-to-head at the start of the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix. The two drivers will share the front row of the grid at the Marina Bay Street Circuit. Elsewhere, Lewis Hamilton kept up his positive qualifying record in Singapore with a P3 start. Here's the full provisional starting grid for the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix.
Norris looked in contention for pole position during Friday and Saturday practice. In fact, in FP3 the Brit stormed to P1 with a very impressive lap. But the story has been different for Red Bull and Verstappen. The Dutchman even finished 15th fastest in second free practice. But Verstappen moved closer in the meaningful session.
Lewis Hamilton found some performance during qualifying. He qualified in third place, ahead of his teammate George Russell, who will start from fourth. The seven-time World Champion has struggled to beat Russell in qualifying throughout the season. Oscar Piastri qualified in fifth place, despite the Australian looking strong throughout the session. Therefore, Norris will have to attack alone. But Verstappen won't be joined by his teammate after Sergio Perez failed to make it through to Q3.
Due to Carlos Sainz's crash in Q3 and Charles Leclerc's deleted time due to track limits, the Ferraris will start from 10th and 9th. This puts Haas' Nico Hulkenberg in P6.
