Jos Verstappen annoyed by Horner's comments: 'Cut the crap'
- Ludo van Denderen
Christian Horner has once again got under the skin of Jos Verstappen. The cause? A statement made by the Red Bull Racing team principal after the Singapore Grand Prix. The father of Max Verstappen responded on X (formerly known as Twitter).
With a positive second place in Singapore - ahead of Oscar Piastri's faster McLaren and the Ferraris - Max Verstappen managed to maximise his result last weekend. On the Friday of last weekend, it certainly did not look like that, as Red Bull Racing seemed to have gone in the wrong direction with their setup. That Verstappen was still able to drive to the podium two days later was partly due to the excellent work of Sébastien Buemi, according to Horner.
Indeed, the Swiss driver had done a lot of work in Red Bull's simulator during the night from Friday to Saturday. "He was consuming plenty of Red Bull to keep him going," Horner said in Singapore last week. "He played an important part [in achieving this result], as does the whole team in working hard with long days and long nights."
Jos Verstappen reacts
Jos Verstappen had read a post on the internet - which GPblog posted a few days ago - in which he saw these statements made by Horner. Consequently, Max Verstappen's father responded to X with: "Cut the stupid crap." By this, the former F1 driver was referring to the fact that the correlation between the simulator and the real car is not correct and Red Bull's simulator cannot be trusted at the moment. Max Verstappen and Helmut Marko have also commented on this recently.
