Carlos Sainz has qualified on pole position for the
Mexican Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen will start alongside the
Ferrari driver and, crucially for him, ahead of
Lando Norris. The Mexican Grand Prix will take place on Sunday.
Sergio Perez finished 18th in front of his home crowd in Mexico.
Oscar Piastri also dropped out in Q1. Q2 ended with
Yuki Tsunoda's crash. This meant that his teammate,
Liam Lawson, was also unable to complete his lap and ended up in P12.
Fernando Alonso,
Lance Stroll and
Valtteri Bottas also dropped out in Q2. Verstappen lost his first fast lap in Q3 due to exceeding track limits. In the final part of qualifying, it was
Carlos Sainz who managed to set the fastest time.
Max Verstappen finished second, and
Lando Norris third.
