Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton, who is preparing for a highly anticipated move to Ferrari during the winter, will return to the cockpit of a McLaren car this weekend in what is set to be an emotional tribute to Ayrton Senna. Hamilton is expected to drive Senna's World Championship-winning 1990 McLaren car at the Brazilian Grand Prix weekend.

Hamilton looked up to Senna when he was growing up, and he will remember the three-time World Champion with a special drive this weekend. It has been 30 years since Senna was tragically killed in an accident at the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola.

Emotional tributes in F1

F1 visited Imola for the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix earlier in the year, and many poignant tributes were made at that event. Sebastian Vettel completed laps around the circuit in Senna's 1993 McLaren car, while waving the Brazilian flag out of the cockpit. He also waved the Austrian flag in memory of Roland Ratzenberger, who died during the same weekend in 1994. Senna had planned to do that after the Grand Prix. McLaren used a special livery at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Another tribute will be made in Brazil, where Senna was born. According to Brazilian outlet Band, Hamilton will climb into Senna's 1990 McLaren F1 car and complete some laps around the circuit.

Hamilton has also made his feelings clear about Senna. The now seven-time World Champion raced for McLaren between 2007 and 2012. He is still the last driver to win the Formula 1 World Championship with the British team. Senna himself won the World Championship with McLaren three times, including in 1990 with the McLaren MP4/5B.
