Franco Colapinto may have only made his
Formula 1 debut in Monza, but the rookie has quickly made a big impression. The Argentinian has alreayd scored four points for
Williams in his first five races, which quickly earned him links to a full-time
F1 seat in 2025. There are rumours that he is one of the candidates for the other
Red Bull Racing seat alongside
Max Verstappen. In a video on the
Youtube channel of Cerveza Quilmes, Colapinto said he does not care who his teammate is.
Colapinto has received plenty of praise, including from Red Bull Motorsport Advisor
Helmut Marko.
Christian Horner even said he would be a bad team boss if he did not consider bringing the Argentine to the Red Bull family.
Colapinto, therefore has been linked to Red Bull, but has also been linked to Sauber before that seat was filled by Gabriel Bortoleto. This means few options remain for the Argentine.
Colapinto: 'Whether that's Verstappen or Zhou...'
If he does get a
F1 seat for 2025, Colapinto isn't bothered about who his teammate is: "
I don't care who I have next to me, whetehr it's Verstappen or Zhou. I want to beat them and I want them to make it difficult for me. I want to beat them and I want to overtake them. That will be so long as there is a chance of me being in the Red Bull [in 2025], which of course is not very likely."This article has been written in collaboration with Esteban den Toom.
