Buxton goes permanent as an IndyCar class commentator
- Estéban den Toom
Will Buxton, one of Formula 1's best-known journalists, will start working for the US-based Fox News network, where he will commentate on IndyCar. Along with James Hinchcliffe and Townsend Bell, he is part of the team of commentators for the NTT IndyCar Series. It is still unclear whether Buxton will continue working in Formula 1.
Fox News has managed to regain the rights for the IndyCar. So Buxton is not the only Formula 1 analyst who will commentate on this class, but also Hinchcliffe, who previously worked for NBC Sports and F1 TV.
Buxton reacts to his move to Fox
"I am incredibly excited to take up this new and incredibly exciting opportunity to return to FOX, exactly 15 years after SPEED Channel gave a young and inexperienced reporter his first chance on network TV. I have been a fan of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES for as long as I have been watching race cars and have always admired the skills and courage of the incredible drivers. Getting the chance to tell their stories and cover their races is a dream come true and something I never dreamed I would get to do. It's a huge responsibility, and not one I take lightly," said the Briton, who is hugely excited about his switch.
This is not Buxton's first time working in the United States, as he has been active in the racing scene there as well. Previously, he has worked for Speed Channel, which is part of Fox. He covered the king class of motorsport but later moved to NBC Sports, where he commented on both Formula 1 and IndyCar.
