Hamilton trusted his instinct: 'Ferrari was the right move for me'
With how Lewis Hamilton's debut was orchestrated at Maranello, it was the Briton's week in the headlines. The first day, the first photo, the first test drive at Fiorano all have been completed. The seven-time world champion does not regret his switch at all, he explained on LinkedIn.
Together with Ferrari, the British driver hopes to achieve a record-breaking eighth F1 world title. Was a change of scenery the right choice for Hamilton? "Ultimately, every new opportunity is a total leap of faith. None of us can predict the future so changing jobs, or in my case teams, is always going to come with some level of risk."
According to Hamilton, it is a greater risk to remain constant for a long time. After all, he has spent more than a decade with Mercedes, as he joined the Germans back in 2013. "Call it instinct or a gut feeling, but I knew that signing with Ferrari was the right move for me and that it would give me the challenge I needed," Hamilton continued, explained his has faith in his new crew.
Hamilton always keeps the same mindset
The blockbuster transfer has now been completed, as Hamilton joined Ferrari, which will be his third F1 team in his career. Still, he believes that already every year was a new chapter for him. "I look at every Formula 1 season like a new chapter. Even in the years when I've won races, trophies and championships, I've known that nothing is guaranteed for the season ahead," Hamilton added.
Therefore, the seven-time world champion always has the goal to improve his performance. "That mindset and continually making progress no matter how big or small, is what has pushed me to achieve more than I ever thought possible."
