Any seasoned fan of Formula 1 knows: the popular Netflix series Drive to Survive is entertainment, but not an accurate representation of reality. Regularly, scenes are cut in a way that makes it all just a little more fabricated. Now it appears that the producers of the series have also started censoring content, for the upcoming season, at least according to British newspaper The Times.
One of the episodes features Christian Horner (Red Bull Racing) and Zak Brown (McLaren) being acrimonious to one another, with Horner calling his American rival a 'prick'. But sources have told The Times that in the original edit, this was not the word the Red Bull team boss used at all.
Horner insults Brown
Actually, Horner called Brown 'cunt'. So that word would have been removed and replaced by 'prick' by the Netflix producers. Why exactly this happened is unclear. Most likely, Formula 1 did not want to create controversy in the series when the use of inappropriate language is currently a hot topic in the sport.
The scene with Horner talking about Brown occurs in the episode that focuses on the case surrounding a female Red Bull employee, who accused Horner of inappropriate behaviour. The team boss was cleared of any wrong-doing following two separate internal investigations carried out by Red Bull itself. However, Horner's accuser has taken her case to the employment court in the UK and the verdict on the case is expected to be issued by January 2026.
