Before the opening race weekend of the 2025 season at the Australian Grand Prix, it was already announced that Stefano Domenicali would visit Thailand. The Italian Formula 1 CEO, who recently extended his contract until the end of 2029, visited the Thai capital Bangkok, also holding talks with Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra about a possible Formula 1 race on the calendar.

"I was delighted to meet Paetongtarn Shinawatra, the prime minister of Thailand, and her team today to discuss their impressive plans for hosting a race in Bangkok. I look forward to continuing our talks in the coming weeks and months," the Formula One chief executive told reporters after the meeting with the prime minister.
Last weekend, the season-opener of the Formula 1 season took place in Melbourne. At the Albert Park Street Circuit, Domenicali spoke to Sky Sports about his visit to Thailand and a possible Grand Prix in the Asian country.

"The good thing we have been able to do in recent years is to focus on the places we believe represent the future of Formula 1. We get a lot of attention from other parts of the world. After the race here in Melbourne, I'm going to Bangkok to see... there is possible interest there to develop something."
The Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort will disappear from the Formula One calendar after 2026, and the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps will rotate with other Grands Prix, freeing up some spots on the calendar. Whether there will actually be a Thai Grand Prix remains to be seen. Incidentally, the current agreement does not allow for more than 25 Grands Prix a year.
