Debate | Red Bull must have new driver alongside Verstappen before Japan
Only two F1 Grands Prix have taken place so far in 2025, but once again, rumours began about Max Verstappen's teammate's having to leave the team. Lawson had two disappointing weekends so far, and the first rumours already began circulating about another change at Red Bull Racing.
The Lawson rumours
A few hours after the Chinese Grand Prix, where Lawson finished in P15 but was promoted to P12 following three disqualification, the first rumours were published about Red Bull already making a change ahead of weekend in Suzuka. The candidate would be Yuki Tsunoda, who in that case could make his Red Bull Racing debut at his home Grand Prix. He also indicated that he would be ready for such a challenge in the paddock on Sunday. "Japan? Yeah, 100%. I mean, the [Red Bull] car is faster," he said.
Rumours says that while Red Bull would promote Tsunoda, Lawson would return to Racing Bulls, to compete alongside rookie Isack Hadjar. It is also rumoured that conversation have begun about the matter.
"I'm also not stupid and I know that obviously I'm here to perform and if I'm not doing that, I’m not going to be around. I'm just focused on getting used to the car as quickly as I can," Lawson said in the paddock in China about the pressure on his shoulders.
Therefore the statement reads as follows: 'Red Bull should have a new driver alongside Verstappen in the RB21 for the Japan GP'. Vote in the poll below and share your thoughts in the comments section below!
