Former world champion Jacques Villeneuve usually does not mince his words about F1 drivers, and that was also the case about Liam Lawson as well. According to the Canadian, the driver's attitude was also the cause the Austrian swapping their drivers.

Liam Lawson did not have the best of starts to his year at Red Bull Racing, and after only two rounds, it has been announced that Red Bull will replace Liam Lawson with Yuki Tsunoda from Racing Bulls ahead of the Japanese Grand Prix, after it was the New Zealander who replaced Sergio Perez.

1997 world champion Jacques Villeneuve believes that is because the attitude he entered the competition with. "You have to bear in mind that he came into F1 very arrogant. He came into F1 last year saying how amazing he would be and he had an attitude. When the results don’t come, it makes everybody react even stronger," the Canadian began.

Worst Red Bull stint ever?

The Canadian continued: "It’s actually the worst result ever in a Red Bull car, so he’s paying his own price there. He set himself up in a way. When you start with Red Bull you have to be on it right away, and that’s the price to pay for being put in the best team. You want to take that risk? Good. But then the opposite side is you’ll pay a dear price if it doesn’t work out."

However, Villeneuve himself also didn't expect the change to happen so early on, instead of once the European part of the season gets underway in a couple of weekends. Yuki Tsunoda will now get the chance to make his debut for the Milton Keynes-based side in Suzuka, at his home Grand Prix.
