Where is Bottas going wrong in his battle with Hamilton?
Valtteri Bottas has identified two key areas he must improve on if he is to challenge or even beat his teammate, Lewis Hamilton. Bottas currently trails Hamilton in the Drivers' Championship but has been on top in the opening sessions at Silverstone.
Bottas started the season in rejuvenated form, winning in Australia and Azerbaijan to put him top of the standings. But since then the Finn has only beaten his teammate on one occasion, his P3 in Austria was enough to beat the Brit as Hamilton came across the line in fifth.
Despite Bottas being much improved in 2019, he is still looking to catch his Mercedes teammate and find where his teammate makes up time. Bottas has identified two areas where Hamilton's performance is superior.
Speaking to Autosport Bottas said: "It is pretty clear on the data, and we've been able to work really well with the engineers on that, so coming into this weekend there are clear main points that I need to focus on.
"It's been a bit of a trend in most of the places that Lewis is normally quite strong in slow speed corners, on the braking and entry phase.
"Also, his driving style works for a different setup direction that can be sometimes better for the tyres in the race."
