Hamilton says it's hard to choose between Ferrari and Mercedes
There's been a question mark over whether Lewis Hamilton will switch to Ferrari before his retirement for a long time. According to the five-time world champion, it's a difficult choice to change to Ferrari or remain loyal to the Mercedes team with future consequences to think about.
In an interview with Channel 4, Hamilton was asked if he was interested in the colour red. "I know I look good in red but it is a very difficult scenario," the Brit said.
"I've been with Mercedes since I was 13. Change is always cool but loyalty is everything, that is why I have this tattoo."
Hamilton will be 35 by the time the next season gets underway. He is contracted at Mercedes until the end of the 2020 F1 season. It seems as if he's starting to plan life after racing.
"I'm not going to be racing forever...what am I going to do in the future? Do I want to remain part of Mercedes doing something quite epic beyond racing? If I was, for example, going to shift [teams] then I don’t know what that is going to look like," Hamilton added.
