Alex Wurz insists Sebastian Vettel is still motivated
2019 was far from Sebastian Vettel's finest season but Alex Wurz has insisted the German is still motivated. The Ferrari driver finished fifth in the Drivers' Championship with only one win.
It was a tumultuous season for Vettel who started the season as Ferrari's number one driver. However, a mixture of bad form and Charles Leclerc brilliance meant they were on a level playing field by the end of the season.
Vettel's only race win of the season came at the Singapore Grand Prix and but it was only enough to place him fifth in the Drivers' Championship. However, Austrian Alex Wurz believes the four-time World Champion is still motivated.
"Absolutely. He was low because he wasn't comfortable in the car and with the tires, but he was recovering," Wurz told Speedweek.
"He moved closer to Leclerc and is hungry again. I noticed that very clearly in personal conversations. He still has enormous capacities."
With Ferrari off the standard in 2019, Wurz is hopeful they'll provide excitement next season. He added: "I would need a crystal ball. I hope Ferrari is fully involved and creates excitement."
