Lewis Hamilton: "I was taking all the precautions" on travelling to Australia
Lewis Hamilton has admitted he was very cautious on his flight over to Australia for this weekend's Grand Prix. The Formula 1 race is still scheduled to go ahead, but without McLaren who pulled out due to a member of their team testing positive for the virus.
Hamilton has already stressed that he thinks the event should be cancelled. The Mercedes driver will be looking to start his bid to equal Michael Schumacher's record and he reports he is feeling ok after the travelling.
"I felt OK travelling out here. Naturally, being on a flight with God knows how many people and then stopping in an airport full of so many people, I didn't really think too hard on it. I was just trying to make sure I was taking all the precautions I could in terms of not touching things and always using hand sanitizer," Hamilton said.
Sebastian Vettel
Formula 1 are remaining quiet about the situation. Vettel says that he is trusting the FIA and FOM who are in tricky situations.
"Obviously we have to trust the FIA and FOM to take precautions as much as they can, but I think the answer that nobody can give you at the moment is how much you can control what is going on. As a matter of fact, we are here. You just try to take care as much as you can," he added in the press conference.
