Extreme price differences between tickets: Turkish GP cheap, Mugello expensive
- GPblog.com
With the relaxation of corona measures in many countries and a more region-oriented approach in the event of a new outbreak, more and more is becoming possible. So is the admission of an audience at Grands Prix again. At Monza this weekend it will be closed for the fans, but at Mugello a week later the first spectators will be admitted again and after that more Grands Prix will follow.
Extreme price differences
On Tuesday it was announced that the promoter of the Turkish Grand Prix wants to welcome no less than 100,000 fans at the Turkish Grand Prix. To sell out the many tickets they will be offered for only £3,00 each. For Formula 1 terms an absolute bottom price that is almost unrealistic.
This contrasts sharply with the ticket prices for the Grand Prix at Mugello in a week and a half. The presale of the tickets started Tuesday afternoon Gazzetta writes and the cheapest tickets are for the free practice sessions on Friday with an amount of £167,-.
If we look at the race on Sunday, the cheapest ticket is £666,- for Tribune "58", the most expensive ticket is £1065,- for the grandstand across the pit lane. In between we see variants of £800,- (Central grandstand bronze) and £977,- (Central grandstand "Silver Pit Lane").
An absurd difference between Italy, where 2800 people are admitted, and Turkey where 100,000 is targeted. However, this big difference will also explain the enormous price difference. It remains to be seen whether 100,000 people can be admitted in Turkey, by the way. Given that the FIA has its own protocols and rules in their COVID-19 'manual'.
