Horner certainly sees advantages: ''It takes away some of the predictability''

Because the medical helicopter could not take off on Friday, Formula 1 actually had a good example of a two-day race weekend before the Grand Prix at Imola. How did Christian Horner experienced this weekend?
Two-day Grand Prix weekend
The Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna will be held in two days. On Saturday there will be a practice session and the qualification and on Sunday the race. At the Nürburgring we saw a similar scenario due to circumstances and one can still see that this results in exciting races. However, Horner does not want to draw conclusions too soon.
''A two-day format puts the focus on a number of aspects. For example, you have less time on the track. We've seen this before, of course, even with a qualifying session and the race on one day when the weather was terrible in Japan'', says Red Bull Racing's team boss in an online press release after the race.
Horner wants to evaluate later
Horner sees some advantages of such a weekend. ''It takes away some of the predictability, because you have less time to optimise your car and gather information about the tyres. You now have to rely more on your own resources,'' says Horner, who is not yet entirely convinced.
''It's an interesting concept and we have this again at Imola. I think we can evaluate the concept a little better with a few more examples at our disposal'', concludes Horner. It remains to be seen whether this will actually happen more often, as the Grands Prix organisations prefer to have more days so that they can also sell more tickets.
