Alonso explains absence: 'That makes it difficult for me to be there'
- GPblog.com
Fernando Alonso will not be physically present at Alpine's car performance. The Spaniard is still in Switzerland and due to travel restrictions it is not possible to be present at the presentation of the new team.
Return of Alonso
Alpine is a new name in Formula 1, but certainly not a new team. In recent years, this team was in Formula 1 under the name of Renault, but due to a reorganisation within the French brand, the F1 team will now be called Alpine. At Alpine, an old acquaintance of Renault enters the team.
Fernando Alonso, in fact, will make his return to Formula 1 in 2021, after he closed the door behind him at McLaren at the end of 2018. The Spaniard deliberately left the door to F1 ajar, as he still had a love for the sport. Now he is back with his old team with whom he won the world title in 2005 and 2006, but the preparation for this season is anything but smooth.
Alonso absent from presentation
After an accident on his bike, Alonso ended up in hospital. After a number of operations he was able to leave the hospital again and is fortunately training again, but he will not be present at the presentation of Alpine. Alonso will not be able to enter England easily from his stay in Switzerland.
''As you know I will not be able to attend the team presentation on Tuesday. The travel restrictions between Switzerland and England make it difficult for me to be there, but I will certainly follow it. I can't wait to show you the new car with the new colours and also new race outfits'', the Spaniard said on his Twitter channel.
And while our friend @alo_oficial can’t physically be with us, rest assured he is paying close attention!
