Mick Schumacher will make his debut in Formula 1 next season. The son of seven times world champion Michael will race for the Haas F1 team. Many eyes will be on the young German and McLaren team boss Andreas Seidl is curious to see how his fellow countryman performs.

After years of absence, the acronym MSC will be back on the timesheets and on television. Mick Schumacher has made a conscious decision to do so and Seidl is happy with that."I think it's great that he decided to go with this abbreviation. It also warms my heart when I see MSC in the tables. Michael Schumacher was a hero from my childhood and the reason I wanted to work in Formula 1."

What can Schumacher do in 2021?

At Haas F1, Schumacher Jr. has landed on a team that has its full focus on 2022. As such, there don't seem to be many opportunities to score points next season."The benchmark for Mick is his performance against his teammate Nikita Mazepin," Seidl therefore explained. "The strongest opponent and first reference is always the teammate."

At the German RTL McLaren's top man further states that the step for the 21-year-old German to the premier class of motor racing is 'enormous'. He therefore argues that we need to be patient. "Young driver like him also have to learn to deal with everything that happens outside the car. But I think from what we've seen of Mick so far, he has everything a top driver should have", Seidl concluded.
