Mercedes test new Pirelli tyres, Ferrari give Sainz extra practice time
- GPblog.com
Ferrari and Mercedes are not sitting still after the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Mercedes stayed in Imola for a test with Pirelli's new tires, and Ferrari is busy with a new test on its own Fiorano circuit.
Tests for Mercedes and Ferrari
This season all Formula 1 teams will test the new tyres from Pirelli for 2022. The Italian tyre supplier will then introduce new 18-inch tires, which will require some adjustment for the teams. After the Grand Prix in Imola it is the turn of Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas to test these tires.
Back in Italy, Ferrari have also started their own test. In the off week between races Ferrari have chosen to let their drivers test in an old Ferrari, and that is the case again today. Carlos Sainz is making his rounds around the Fiorano circuit today in the 2018 SF71H.
