Russell compared to Hamilton: "I'm impressed how he handles this"

Jost Capito thinks there is perhaps too much criticism of Nicholas Latifi's performance. According to the Williams CEO, it should not be forgotten that with George Russell, Latifi has a teammate that everyone expects to become Formula 1 world champion at least once.
"To be the teammate of George is very difficult. The same as being the teammate of Lewis, that is always difficult", Capito praised Russell's qualities in the podcast Beyond the Grid. Yet the British driver on behalf of Williams has not scored any World Championship points in recent seasons.
Latifi copes well with pressure from Russell
Latifi on the other hand has a tough job. The Canadian entered Formula 1 in 2020 and immediately had to compete with a Formula 2 champion who had already spent a year with the British team. "But I'm impressed how he [Latifi] handles this. It was his rookie year last year so he has to learn, and he learned from that."
So this year we can expect more from the 25-year-old driver. "He had a couple of 11th positions last year, so he was close to a point last year. He is working very hard," Capito concluded his account.
