Mercedes and Red Bull Racing are battling it out for the world championship this season. However, for the time being Lewis Hamilton is at the top of the leaderboard with 14 points, while Max Verstappen has to follow for the time being. Toto Wolff has a simple explanation for this.

The Mercedes team boss sees that the Austrian team has come closer this season, which means that his team has to stay sharper than ever. Still, Wolff thinks Mercedes has a slight advantage. "On Saturday the wind is obviously blowing in Red Bull's direction, but on Sunday we are most probably just better," he explained to Motorsport-Total.com.

Wolff sees the Mercedes team putting in a nice performance for now. "We manage to deliver good performances even if the car is not fast enough. But you should never sit back and believe that there is a guarantee of something. In two weeks things can go in a completely different direction, you have to learn from that too."

Battle in world championship

Valtteri Bottas is the number three driver in the world championship for now. The Finnish driver has to settle for 47 points for now, giving him 6 points more than pursuer Lando Norris. Sergio Pérez can be found on the sixth place with 32 points.
