Sainz: "All of a sudden the responsibility lies on you"

Carlos Sainz was incredibly disappointed after qualifying, but from fourth place, the Spaniard managed to move up to a strong P2 a day later. The Ferrari driver benefited from teammate Charles Leclerc not starting and Valtteri Bottas dropping out. Sainz is happy with his performance in the streets of Monaco although he had hoped for more.

"It is a good result. If you told me coming to Monaco that I would finish in second, I would definitely take it. The whole circumstances of the weekend and having Charles on pole and me missing out in qualifying yesterday on a good lap. Maybe the result doesn't taste as good as it should. But maybe when I reflect back on the weekend I will be happy and proud of the weekend," Sainz said after the race.
"It is when you see the other car not starting from pole all of a sudden the responsibility lies on you to try and salvage the weekend and with the other car starting from pole you want to give the podium and it was all about getting the start right and we were," the Spaniard concludes.
